Colchuck Lake, at the base of Aasgard Pass and the Enchantments, is an epic, iconic lake that has recently become a magnet for hikers from all over flooding the Leavenworth area and creates inspiration for all. I love painting this view from all different times of day and using different colors and ways. This time it was on a huge 30×40" canvas, using a new medium underneath the watercolor process. The tan tone underneath gives a new tone and texture with brush marks showing through in places and creating exciting interaction with the watercolor this time. This piece is painted all along the edges as well and ready to hang, it does not need to be framed.

This painting is from the Northwest series done in mixed media, which were created as a type of ‘living prayer’ for the places around the valley I grew up in, as well as other Northwest destinations that have had special meaning and are close to my heart. Mountains have always fascinated me with the strength and beauty they represent and inspire me to create. I hope this series creates a connection for you with the peace and beauty of this part of the Northwest I call home.
