Autumn in Cashmere

Autumn in Cashmere
So many feelings when I look at this painting, and the colors that poured out of my paintbrush and pastel stick! The place I call home takes on different feelings of it’s own every season it walks through, every sunset and sunrise it displays, and the emotions one feels in each season one is walking through in life when viewing it. Painted from the view of Rank Road/Kennedy road, facing the North Cascades and in town, Flowery Divide/ Brender Canyon direction, this piece captures the vibrancy and life that shines out of the landscape and people that live here. The abstract colors I chose to represent Autumn and the sky are meant to be intense but playful, alive and inviting, expressive and simple at the same time. I hope you find yourself immersed in the beauty of the fall season whether you hail from the NW, Cashmere, or any other town that seems to ‘glow’ in the fall.
This painting is from the Northwest series done in mixed media, which were created as a type of ‘living prayer’ for the places around the valley I grew up in, as well as other Northwest destinations that have had special meaning and are close to my heart. Mountains have always fascinated me with the strength and beauty they represent and inspire me to create. I hope this series creates a connection for you with the peace and beauty of this part of the Northwest I call home.
