It's so difficult and feels cheap to somehow try to put into words what this painting represents. It will mean something collectively resonant with our story as God's so beloved children, but carries a unique and specific intimate meaning for each follower of Him as well. The first time I had heard of the practice of saying the Dayenu, I was wrecked! The Hebrew tradition of reciting times of God's faithfulness to His people through the ages, how any one of His mercies "would have been enough" ...and yet He continues them to this day, one upon another. I first learned of this recently while watching a scene set around the Passover table in an episode of “The Chosen”. While I am not doing this practice justice, I highly recommend you look it up, to be inspired to read aloud and journal your own "it would have been enough" statements. It is so powerful to forget not His faithfulness, His mercies, His grace gifts, woven through history as well as our own personal days that fit into His bigger narrative.

In this piece representing the Dayenu, the soft colors, the red/maroon and white represent that intimate place of communion with Jesus, at His feet....offering our gratitude and worship for all that He is to us, and who He is to the world.

The trillium flowers are one of my favorites- a special native flower to the northwest forests whose 3petals symbolize the Trinity always working together on our behalf and connecting us to His heart. The word “enough” is written in brown- which to me represents the dust of the earth, and humility. We cannot come to His feet any other way, and gratitude grows humility.

The gold woven around is to be heaven present and surrounding a space of worship and Thanksgiving.
