El Qanna
El Qanna
El Qanna- There are several variants on the name of God that describes the attribute and how He is known as a ‘jealous God’. This is one of them I have created to express the often perplexing understanding that our God is jealous for us, as a husband for His bride, as the closest human comparison to understand His consuming love for us. Devotion to the one. Covenant like no other, to the One who made us, and whom deserves and desires our whole selves in worship. He does not want only part and parcel of His creation, although He is also a gentleman that pursues rather than forces our yielded heart allegiance. I cannot understand it, but I am drawn to it, this unrelenting flame , which is ironically the safest place to be.
The colors used in this piece are representative of Holy Spirit drawing us to Himself and the passion of His love in fire and water colors blues and orange/reds. The copper leafing is more sparce throughout and hints at being ‘in the fire’ with Him. There is a softness to this piece that reminds us that as powerful as His love is, it is a choice to give all, not a demand.
